about women in philosophy

Women in Philosophy Bayreuth was created by Prof. Dr. Alice Pinheiro Walla in 2017. The aim of Women in Philosophy is to increase the visibility of women philosophers and to celebrate their contribution to the discipline. In parallel, through the other activities that have become part of the project, Women in Philosophy intends to be a platform of dialogue on gender-related topics. Women in  Philosophy Bayreuth is currently being organized together with Maria Eugênia Zanchet, Ma, University of Bayreuth.

The Lecture Series and PhilosopHER have been funded thanks to the support of the Stabsabteilung Chancengleichheit of the University of Bayreuth.

Prof. Dr. Alice Pinheiro Walla

Alice Pinheiro Walla is W1 Professor of Political Philosophy (Global Justice) at the Department of Philosophy, University of Bayreuth, Germany.
​Previously, she was Assistant Professor in Moral and Political Philosophy at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland.

MA. Maria Eugênia Zanchet

Maria Eugênia is PhD student at Kulturwissenschaftliche Fakultät at University Bayreuth, Germany. She is founder of GenderTalks,  a project that seeks to spread and foster knowledge on gender-related topics through digital platforms.
